My priority is to bring clarity and a fresh perspective to healthcare and wellness topics that affect patients and concern fellow healthcare professionals. What follows are a few samples of my work.
MEDREPORT FOUNDATION: What Can We Do to Improve Our Health?
If you asked most people, they would say they’d love to have some improvement in their health. Recent trends in the health of Americans show that there’s a lot of improvement needed! We’re spending lots of money on healthcare, but the results leave much to be desired. This article looks at some reasons for these disappointing health outcomes, and a way for people to take charge of their own health.
MEDREPORT FOUNDATION: Want Improved Health? Improve Your healthCARE
Why is the health of Americans so much worse than that of other countries that spend less on healthcare than we do? Even though many of the greatest life-saving and life-extending medical advances of the last century have come from the U.S.A, nonetheless we often have very disappointing health results for our people. It’s a multi-faceted problem, but one of the causes is the way U.S. healthcare is paid for. This article examines the poor health statistics, and points toward an alternative that places patients before profits.
POWERPOINT: The Linchpin Nurse
A LINCHPIN is a pin passed through the end of an axle to keep a wheel in position. Another definition for linchpin is a person or thing vital to an enterprise or organization: “regular brushing is the linchpin of all good dental hygiene“. Linchpins, though usually inexpensive and unnoticed (unless they fail), are essential to whatever machinery or enterprise they are associated with. Although mostly not in positions of power, nurses are often the indispensible element in the area of healthcare they’re involved with. This Powerpoint explores that concept, and provides ways that nurses may increase their influence, for the benefit of the patients and employers they serve.
